Uma and Rob's Wedding - The Oviatt Penthouse 4.15.07

Uma and Rob are just totally sweet and cool. Rob is a musician so we got along instantly and his bandmates where really hysterical at the wedding. Uma is an editor and just has great taste. The Oviatt Penthouse is one of my favorite venues to photograph. I could do weddings there every weekend and I would never get bored. It's got the perfect miss of that old school art deco vibe, with the downtown LA thing - elegance and urban. Anyway, Uma is Armenian and did include some Armenian elements! If Rob and Uma were not on their honeymoon right now, I would call and get the name of the caterer - fabulous....) and the crowd danced like crazy. Uma was a little nervous before the ceremony (like most brides) so it was wonderful to see her have such an amazing time at her ceremony and reception. They had these gypsies come and dance as well. Rob and Uma's friends are totally cool. Wow....I could go on and on! Thank you to Derek Goes who was my 2nd shooter and helped me do some lighting stuff.

Carol and Cesar

Carol and Cesar were the maid of honor and best man at Brandy and Miles wedding this past August. Carol really loved Brandy's wedding photos. When she and Cesar got married 4 years ago, I guess they might have skimped on their photography (I don't know the whole story). All I know is that for Carol's birthday, Brandy bought her a photo shoot! Isn't that the coolest thing? Any of you are welcome to do this for your friends! Anyway, it was great to see these two again. We went to Melrose Ave and just had a blast. Again, it's always easy to shoot gorgeous people, but they were great to work with and it was so sweet to get a note from Carol telling me how much fun they had!

Trina and Shane's Engagement Shoot!

Unfortunately, Trina and Shane had booked me for their wedding but I had to cancel due to my pregnancy. I was so thrilled, however, when they asked me if I could still do their engagement shoot. They are just such sweet people and Trina sent me a baby gift and some moisturizer for my tummy. I love her! They really had their heart set on photographing at The Getty and I was a little gunshy about it - "technically" you shouldn't do professional shoots there, but I did call and they said it's not very enforced if you are subtle about it. And they were right. I can't believe I've deprived myself of shooting at the Getty all these years! Now I want to shoot there all the time! Sorry, I have to show off all the ones here that show the beautiful architechure and that amazingly blue sky! Why don't I go to The Getty more often?

Jennifer and Maurice - The Dorothy Chandler Pavillion - March 31, 2007

Jennifer and Maurice and best friends with Missy and Darren whose wedding I photographed last year. I was so excited when they hired me because, #1 - They are totally cool and #2 - I was SOOOOO excited about shooting at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion. Jennifer is a knockout (obviously!) so it wasn't exactly difficult to take great photos of her - just point the camera! The nice thing is that Jennifer is also one of those women who probably doesn't have any idea how gorgeous she is which just makes her so lovely! All of her friends and family are so much fun and we really had a great time running all over the place (a little more challanging for me these days as I'm carrying this extra load on my belly!). My husband has insisted that I bring someone to help carry my equiptment so his friend Greg volunteered. Having a 3rd person is the GREATEST THING. I had always felt a little guility having my 2nd shooter hold lights for me, but since that is Greg's job, we had so much fun shlepping strobes around and getting all sorts of cool lighting shots at the reception. I think I'm going to be addicted now. So my clients before June should be happy I'm pregnant, I can actually do more! Jennifer Arnoldt was their wedding coordinator and she did an AMAZING job (super cool chick too). Every detail was gorgeous!

Adrianne and Alvin's Engagement Shoot

Adriana and Alvin are getting married on April 21st and I am really excited for their wedding. This shoot was a blast. The sky was totally overcast with a nasty marine layer - which basically has a cool vibe of it's own. I had no idea that Adrianna and Alvin would be so much fun. I mean, I tried to pose them a little, but they were laughing so hard and goofing around so much together.....I got some AWESOME photos that I never would have expected. It was so easy, I just had them do their thing! Adrianna loves photography so it was really fun to show her the photos tonight. Like me, she says she feels more comfortable behind the camera....but it sure doesn't look like it! I told my husband about how fun the shoot was so when he met them tonight he said "Oh, are you the couple who couldn't stop laughing at the beach!"
